League Night Recap for 2/24/15
On Tuesday, the fourth season of the Lansing Pinball League reached its halfway point, the fourth meeting of eight. Despite my pessimistic predictions of Getaway failure, every game chosen for this week – Getaway, Indiana Jones, The Walking Dead, and World Cup Soccer – did in fact get played. Tales of the Arabian Nights was on…

League Night Recap for 1/13/15
After a short break for the holidays, league play resumed with the first meeting of Season 4 on Tuesday. The usual suspects were joined by a couple of new members: Kristen, whom I previously met at the Arcade and Marvin’s Leagues, and Sam, a Grand Rapids League member coaxed over to Lansing by Jake. Russell,…

Super-Ball III Recap
Super-Ball III, the post-season tourney for Season 3, happened December 16. Shortly afterward I got broadsided by the holidays and failed to write a recap. I’m a firm believer in “better late than never” but this is about as late as it gets, with Season 4 starting tomorrow! As in previous seasons, the competition took…

League Night Recap for 12/2/14 (and Zen Tournament Preview)
As I have not yet completely worked out my strategy for quitting my job and devoting myself to a life of pinball hedonism, I have been kept busy by the end-of-term crunch. As a result I sadly did not find time to write my usual League Night Recap for 12/2/14. This is too bad especially since…

League Night Recap for 11/18/14
Season 3 is in the final stretch, as Tuesday was meeting 7 of 8. Due to snow out west, the GR crowd did not make it out and will be doing a makeup session in the coming week. Russell also did not return (no word on whether it was due to yoga this time) and…

League Night Recap for 11/4/14
Tuesday, November 4th, was the sixth meeting of eight for Season 3 of the League. It was also the eve of my birthday, so I was looking forward to a celebratory night of pinball as consolation for turning a certain milestone age. No, not 21. Flattery will get you nowhere. The original plan, dictated by Matt’s…

League Night Recap for 10/21/14
Tuesday’s league night, the fifth of Season 3, saw slightly lower attendance than the previous meeting, so we returned to playing four games. Matt had previously randomly selected Junk Yard, Getaway, Addams Family, and Monster Bash to be the night’s games. The best laid schemes of mice and Matt go oft awry, so that is not…

League Night Recap for 10/7/14
The third season of the Lansing Pinball League has reached its halfway point, as meeting 4 of 8 took place on Tuesday. It was a meeting that saw one heck of a performance from the night’s top-scorer, Danny. It was a high-scoring night in general as the increasing membership of the league led us to play five…

League Night Recap for 9/23/14
Tuesday was the third meeting (of eight) for Season 3 of the League. After the last meeting, dubbed Demolition Derby Night by Joseph, everyone was concerned about the state of the games, but they all got some TLC after that and all were working as league night began. I was hoping we would play Attack…
