Our last league night started a new bank rotation, this time between banks 3 and 4, also known (to me) as Hazel and Bigwig. The two characters from Watership Down make for a logical pair – one might call them the “bromance” of the novel. Did our players show the toughness and perseverance of Bigwig, or the insight and strategy of Hazel? I can only speak for myself in that I managed to scrabble my way out of the hole I’d dug myself into on my previous bank, Hyzenthlay. (Perhaps in my case that bank should have been named Thrayonlosa. I digress.)

We had a pretty big turnout for the night (which is getting more common for us again) and we welcomed two new players, Connie and Dean. This was my first time meeting Connie and we didn’t get much of a chance to talk yet. Dean is Eric’s dad, and while we hadn’t met properly, we had briefly played somewhere in the vicinity of each other at the gigantic Arcade Pinball League in Brighton during the season that just wrapped up.

Now that we’ve had three league nights, the spreadsheet no longer has everyone tied for first (since you drop your two lowest nights). The rankings it does show, though, should be considered very preliminary since they only really become meaningful when a bank rotation finishes on the even-numbered nights. At this time, Danny has the preliminary first place on bank 3, and Peter has it on bank 4. The two of them are currently tied for first place in the league.

Our Tuesday Night Smackdown game was on Star Trek, and the B division did their match on Metallica. Brian took a first in the championship game, with Joseph in second, Tim in third, and David in fourth. If I’m not mistaken, this was David’s first time appearing in the final four. Peter won the B division “Undercard” match.

We’re finishing up the second half of the rotation and the overall first half of the league season tonight, so I’ll have more interesting results to report after that. See you all soon!
